« on: Saturday 28 April 12 01:16 BST (UK) »
I've come to a dead end in my search for information about George Gee.  I've listed all the information I have below, but would appreciate any suggestions or tips to fill in the gaps.

Married Annie Rachel Tansley (1876-1958)

Information from marriage certificate
Date of marriage:  21 November 1896
Location:  Register Office, District of Chelsea
Status:     Bachelor
Age: 27 years (so born about 1869)
Father:  Joseph Gee, House Painter (alive at the time)
Occupation:  Ship’s Steward
Address:  30 Hasker Street Chelsea (given also as address of bride)

Son

William James George Gee
Born Witherslack Hall Cottage, Westmorland on 18 January 1897
Father:  George Gee, Ship’s Steward

Census
1901 Wife Annie living with her father and son in Witherslack, so George may have been at sea.  Her marital status shown as married (ie not widow)

Death
Unknown but wife remarried in 1907

Bayley family of Westmorland (Casterton/Kirkby Lonsdale) and Lancashire (Barton, Birkdale) during the period 1750 - 1911.
Willan family of Westmorland and Lancashire.
Easthope family - mostly Gloucestershire/London
Jeffords

Hi Westby,
Firstly have you had any further developement in your search for George. Would like to ask the following. Are you decsended from William James George Gee and does his birth certificate record his mother as Gee formerly Tansley. Known facts are from his marriage cert stating age 27 and father Joseph Gee "house painter". Searching census from 1871 onwards I can only find 1 Joseph Gee who is a house painter from 1881-1901 in Norfolk. He has a son George born 1870 in North Walsham. The only George born in that registration district "Erpingham" is a George Philip Gee who can be traced through census to death. I know this does not find George but want to make sure we are looking for the right one.

Hi and thanks for your work on this.  I also found this Joseph the house painter in Norfolk - very excited.  He had a son, George, but this George married somebody else (not Annie Tansley) and died well after 1907.

Tks again
