Martin Casey and wife Rewa Hairini
« on: Sunday 29 April 12 04:06 BST (UK) »
Martin was born in Ireland in 1836, and came out to NZ with his parents as his father became a Fencible soldier in Howick.  Martin fought in the Land Wars and was granted land near Te Awamutu, Rangiaohia, where he met his wife.
They moved from this area, probably to a bigger farm in the ?king country and I havent been able to find them.  Has anyone heard of this family?

Hmmmm,I am unsure of that death as it has the name Murphy for his mother.

Here is the marriage for a date to start with

1872/4482 Rewa  Hairiui to Martin  Casey

This may be his death

1921/7245 Casey  Martin  84Y  maybe someone with a burial locator can tell you where this person is buried and with whom.

Hi,  Yes, his mother's surname would have been Murphy by then as she remarried after the death of her first husband.  i will try and locate the burial of Martin, thank you

Martin is buried at Omaka Cemetery, Blenheim, no Rewa buried with him.

No, I don't see anything for her either.

Just speculation, wonder if she is on the Maori E/R's?
