... and then we have Amos Kyte Duffield who married Ann RILEY in September 1835. Subsequent census returns suggest she was born about 1817.

She could have been the daughter of Samuel and Millicent RILEY  (baptised Dec 20, 1818) or

John and Sarah RILEY (baptised Apr 28, 1816)

I did see the Amos Kyte marriage on FreeREG also.
Have you checked that Site out? There is lots of Kyte/Ball info.

Trish :)

Hi Trish

Yes, I've looked at the FreeReg listing and also have access to the South Normanton marriage (1800-1836) and burial (1800-1840) transcripts which appeared on GENUKI some time ago. I'm not sure either are complete - and neither have baptismal records.

I think I've just about sorted out the Ball / Kyte links although the former family has been described as notorious for out-of-wedlock births!

Cheers Alan

Described as notorious for out of marriage children is an understatement.  The BALL's from South Normanton who I descend from are outrageously having children outside of marriage.  The way they marry between certain families is frightening as well

This is only the half of it. My maternal tree is this entangled briar patch from Derbyshire. I have a similar outrageous and interesting set of relations on my paternal side from rural Northamptonshire!

Hi all

It was me who put the South Normanton marriages & burials on Genuki site some years ago.  The same information is also on Freereg.  The information came from South Normanton  BT's and not the PR's so I don't think it is complete.  There always seems to be extra information in the PR's.   I do have South Normanton Monumental Inscriptions if you want anyone looking up.

How's this for a family connection? My Legacy relationship calculator describes Ezra Ball (born abt 1817 and who married a Mary Marriott) to be my granduncle William Ball (born 1863) to be (Ezra's) daughter's husband's 1st cousin once removed's husband's sister's husband
