Hi-thank you for contact. Yes I would really like to know how they got on. Their journey in 1914 from outside Armagh via Liverpool to Sydney must have been an epic journey. I would be very grateful for any information you may have

Here's some more !

There's a huge number of people with the surname McLean (and variations) and there's even quite a number surnamed Breen in the Sydney District.   So it may be a tad difficult at first to sort them out for you.

But :

Sands 1915 Directory for Sydney (Alphabetical)
William BREEN,  Northbrook St, BEXLEY
William BREEN 610 New Canterbury Road, DULWICH HILL  (Bexley and Dulwich Hill are both suburbs of Sydney)

Sands 1920 Dir
W Breen, 610 New C’bury Rd, D. Hill
William BREEN, 622 New Canterbury Rd, Dulwich Hill
Wm Breen, Garnet St, Hurlstone Park
Mrs Rose M BREES, 7 Ormond St Paddington (* this entry definitely is Brees, so could well be someone else completely).

Sands 1925 Dir
Breen
W F, Unwin’s Bridge Rd, Undercliffe.
Wm, Woodbine St, Bankstown
Wm, 5 Redmond St, L’hardt (as in Leichhardt)
Wm M, farmer, Balldale.

From NSW BDM online index  http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/searchHistoricalRecords.htm

Deaths
Rose BREEN, dau of Patrick and Mary A, registered at Paddington (a district in Sydney’s eastern suburbs), #19594

NSW d.c.s are quite informative, and include details re marriage, parentage, children’s names/ages and also include burial information.   The NSW BDM online site also includes information as to how to obtain official transcripts of their certificates.  Transcripts are cheaper and can be send via email as pdf attachments.   All three of the current Transcription Agents areknown to be reliable, accurate and diligent. http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/howToTraceYouFamTree.htm#TranscriptionAgent

If you go ahead and order a transcription of that Rose Breen’s d.c. then once you have received it, may I suggest if you want to follow up further re this family, that you do consider posting on the Aussie Board at RChat.  There’s lots of very friendly and helpful Aussie RChatters who willingly help.

Hi JM-so nice to hear from you. I am so grateful for the information you have supplied re my lost family. I am a comparitive novice in the Family History field and am more than pleasently surprised at how helpful complete strangers can be especially those like yourself on the other side of the World. I am 71 years old and my main interest is to gather what info I can and pass it on to my sons and daughters. The R ose Breen whose death you have found is my family and I would have known her 2 sisters in Armagh when I was a small boy. I will proceed on the lines you have suggested and who knows where that might lead. Thank you again very much. JHB
