1871 - Who lived at 39 Camellia Street, Kennington?

An acquaintance of mine is driving herself to distraction & I don't know how to do a reverse look-up in the census to provide any assistance - address rather than name.

She needs to find out who lived in 39 Camellia Street, Kennington, Lambeth (off Wandsworth Road), Surrey in 1871. She doesn't have a name, but hopes that there is a lady living there, who's first name is Mary Ann (b:1840 in Bermondsey). She may be married and may have children and it's her surname and her new family that my acquaintance is after.

I hope you can help before she goes mad with frustration.

Hi unfortunatley the 1871 does not list house numbers, and it is a long road!!

RG10/674/106/45 shows two families at 39 Camellia Street - schedules 274 & 275.

However, the only Mary is 7 years old.  The female adults are 40 and 49, therefore too old, and no-one comes from Bermondsey.

If your friend is sure about the address, it may be that the house numbering was changed between censuses.

In some cases there is a street index, which shows the relevant census reference, and you could work from that
