My g.g.g.grandfather, John Green, was the tenant farmer at Crowhill Farm in Bolnhurst 1822-1841.
Have you seen the Admon of John Green, farmer of Bolnhurst held at Bedford Archives ref A 1842/1 suggesting he died without making a will, to see who was granted rights to his estate.

Talking of wills, National Probate Calendar has entry for Samuel Green, farmer at Greensbury Farm Bolnhurst who died 4 Sept 1866 & names his widow/relict Sophia Green & Benjamin Green, farmer of Harringworth, Northants as executors. This most likely is his son; a Benjamin Green b 1832 Bolnhurst is a farmer in Harringworth with wife Louisa (b 1838 Colmworth) & family on the 1861 & 1871 census.

Thank you for these references to wills. I am doing this research from some distance away (Australia) but I get over to the UK quite often. Next trip I hope to spend a couple of days in Bedford and see what I can find in the Bedford Archives. I will add these wills to my list of things to ask about.

My first post to this thread was made because I mistakenly believed I had some information that would help gwynd. It doesn't seem right to clutter up gwynd's thread with my stuff so I have started a new thread: "Green families farming in the Bolnhurst area. Were they related?"
Thanks for your help.
David

Hi Gwynd

I haven't read all of your thread but it is 1.30am and I'm off to bed.
But just a quick bit of info in case it hasn't been said.
America is now called Garden Hedge and it leads to what used to be called North End, which was the slum area of Leighton Buzzard.
If you Google Leighton Buzzard North end and go onto the Beds council (I think) website there is some good reading.
North end was sort of the end of Leighton and then there was a gap before Heath and Reach, nowadays there is no gap and it is one of the wealthier areas of town.

Happy hunting. Borri

Hi Borri,     Sorry for the delay but just found your message as   I don't go on the Bedford section very often as I've  hit a brick wall with the Greens.       Thanks for the information, I will have a look at what you have said.         Best wished gwynd
