Seeking Family info Robert Beig (Latter family is Begg).. who was baptized 1788 in  Balgray, Angus, Scotland.  Roberts wife was Margaret Coupar, was born in Balgray, Angus, Scotland. One son is Andrew. I have all the info from 1788 to present day, I am NEW to this and looking for anything that may come before this date.

I take it that Alexander was baptised in 1788 not Robert

That is correct as I am reading it, Alexander was baptized on 7 Apr 1788 in Tealing, Angus, Scotland, his parents, Robert Beig and Margaret Coupar are the ones I cant seem to find any further information on, the trail seems to stop for me there. I am told there are so many spellings, what I don't understand is, are the spellings generally changed during/after immigration, or could they also change throughout history. If so, I see how this can get terribly complicated lol. Thank you for your interest :)
