Is there a List of servicemen??Africa??
« on: Saturday 05 May 12 06:09 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out more on my grandfather Robert Brown Dunlop Jamieson in regards to his military time. I only have 1 picture(1940-41) of him in uniform along with my grannie and my dad as an infant then, but not sure where to look. Appreciate any help!

Sadly there are only lists of the servicemen who were killed/died. The ones who survived  World War II have records but not normally listed unless they won the VC, etc. Most did not appear in newspapers unless they were killed.

Hi

If you post what you know on the armed forces board ( WW11) you may get some info. There are a lot of
very knowledgeable people there.

Or perhaps one of the moderators could move your post for you.

You can get his service record from the M.O.D. at a cost of £30

Sorry I don't know what the M.O.D. is. Does it help that I just found out from my mom that my grandfather was sent to Africa while in the service??

Thanks!

Hi

M.O.D. is Ministry of Defence.

The link below has information about applying for copies of Service Records.
