I am trying to trace Elizabeth Terrell, born in Cornwall 1860/61, she is shown on the1861 census (aged 5 months) with parents James and Elizabeth.James died in 1866, but I cannot find any further trace of her or her mother until she married Henry Towler in Settle,Yorks in 1882.  Can anyone help, please?

Oops...Just noticed James died in 1866. Can you tell us from the 1861 census where Elizabeth was born in Cornwall?

Hi Sue,
On the 1861 census it has Elizabeth born in Kenwyn, but her mother Elizabeth as born in Brazil, South america !!!  unfortunately there are quite a few Terrells in cornwall so it is difficult to know if I've got the right one!  This was the only one who matched the age , and on her marriage cert, there is no name for her father so I wondered if he died when she was really young - hence the death of James in 1866!

Hi Ann,
Supposing this is the correct Elizabeth on the 1861 census, & her Father James died young, his name would more then likely be mentioned on her marr cert.

Hi Sue, maybe her parents weren't married and Terrell was her mother's name?  that would explain why her father isn't named on her marr cert, but not why I can't find her anywhere else. Would it???
