Stilton burials for Busby and Ruff surnames.
« on: Saturday 05 May 12 11:30 BST (UK) »
Hi from Australia,

Does anyone know if there are records available for burials at Stilton.  I'm looking for any burial information for the Ruff and Busby Surnames at Stilton up until around 1930.

Regards
Gerry

Margaret,

Thank you for the information that you have provided.

My GGGM was Mary Ruff (1844) married a Henry Busby (1843) in 1868 at Stilton.  I had found a baptism for Mary Ruff's sister Betsy around 1840 so her death as a spinster in 1929 matches fairly well.  It's great to have the actual address.

I'll see where the other reference fit in as well.

Thanks again, must appreciated.

Gerry

Margaret,

I do have access to the Census records and have done reasonably ok but I cant find Henry & Mary Busby for 1911.

1881. 1891 and 1901 at Fen Street Stilton but nil for 1911.

Henry was born Stilton 1843 and Mary born Mary Ruff 1844 at Stilton.

I think Henry Busby died at Stilton in 1918 and Mary Busby at Stilton in 1927.

My GGM was Elizabeth Busby and she shows up on 1871 at home in Stilton and 1881 working for Thomas Spriggs at Stilton.  Elizabeth and her brother George migrated to Australia in 1889, brother Charles had migrated in 1888.

I have searched high and low in the 1911 Census but no luck for Henry ( about 68) & Mary (about 67) Busby.  I would expect that they would have still been living at Stilton on their own with no children.

From your earlier post I have found that Maria Ruff and Charles Ruff were married.

Regards and thanks.
Gerry
