hi Geoff,

I didn't realise the Swarkestone Parish registers were a submitted entry.
Then again I am not sure what a submitted entry is.
What is the difference.

Hi Barbara

A submitted entry is when the info has been submitted by a (Latter Day Saints) LDS member, i.e. not necessarily substantiated; an extracted record is taken from a source such as a parish register and therefore more reliable. When you carry out a search on the IGI, the page that gives you the details will say whether it is submitted or extracted.

However, it is an excellent research tool and I appreciate it.

Hi Meercat

Sorry, I should read more carefully  :-[

On the IGI it is a submitted record, but because you have got your info from the CD, it is great news, it does confirm that there are Fosters in Swarkeston, as with the entry in PR for 1738 in my earlier post. Just the missing parents of Sarah to find now.

Hi

I'm learning a lot too !!!  Thank you for explaining   :)

Had contact from trish1120 on Leicestershire lookup
(regarding Robert son of William b.1811)
- showing the Marriage of Stephen FOSTER  and Elizabeth STEER  17 OCT 1769 St. James, Swarkeston, Derbyshire - both of Swarkeston Parish, Bachelor/Spinster
(Trish explained that it can't be confirmed from records tho so does this mean it is submitted ??? it was found on Freereg.org.uk

- it's great when it all comes together tho ;D

Hi Barbara

That's great, it is looking likely that the 1738 Stephen Foster may be his father.
