Presumably if 10 are still living and 2 have died the total must be 12 ???

Several of the kids weren't even B in Hull, I can see their registrations in Cottingham.
I think the age at census hasn't been compared to BMDs at all.

Total is 12 & 2 dead looking at the original (changed from 13 b alive and 3 dead)

Your dates don't look quite right.  YorkshireBMD has Agnes M born 1882 and Oliver (misindexed as Olive J) 1886, both in East Sculcoates sub-district.  I haven't checked all the rest but Lucy's 1905 birth was in Cottingham.

If I were you I would use FreeBMD and YorkshireBMD together to identify as precisely as possible the dates and districts/subdistricts of each known child's birth and identify (1) gaps in the timeline, together with Edwards children born in those gaps and in the subdistricts where the family appears to have been at the relevant time and (2) possible twins of the known children (where the GRO page ref is the same or adjacent page - though beware that this is far from conclusive of twins). Then you can cross-refer to childhood deaths and census returns which may show some of those children in other families, and thus narrow down your list.

It is 12 born to the marriage, 10 living, 2 have died.
BUT the number of children born look as if it was written as 13 then written over as 12, 10 living, then looks like the number who died was written as 3 and tehn written over as 2

Have you looked for any gaps between the births such as the one between Alfred and Mark and the one between Agnes's and Oliver's birth?

At least it appears they stayed put in Hull so may be a little easier to find the missing children.

The parents have all the children's birth places as Hull in the censuses.

I'm not sure what you mean ??? If you search for all Edwards births and deaths in the relevant period in Sculcoates registration district (where Alfred and Mary married in 1881 and lived in all available censuses, and of which East Sculcoates and Cottingham were subdistricts) you'll find a vast amount to narrow down.
