Marriage around 1752 - Ashwell?
« on: Wednesday 09 May 12 20:12 BST (UK) »
Hi

I would be so grateful if someone would kindly look for the marriage of my great-something grandfather John Carter to Mary. I would love to know Mary's maiden name, parents, etc.

John Carter was born in Ashwell, Hertfordshire in 1727 and continued to live there until his death in Ashwell in 1764. According to his will of 1765, he was a butcher.

John and Mary had the following children, all born in Ashwell:
Mary born? buried 1756
John baptised 1752, died 1822
Jeremiah baptised 1754, died 1756
Mary baptised 1757, died ?
Elizabeth baptised 1759, died 1759
Jeremiah baptised 1760, died 1819
Elizabeth baptised 1763, died?

Their son Jeremiah was a non-conformist (a Methodist), so perhaps the family were?

Kind regards
Gill
