An earlier post-
Hi Pancho
I think we may be along the same lines as I have traced my gr gr grandparents back to Clones in Ireland which I am sure is in Co Monaghan
they were Brenard Slowey married Rose Ann McCue and his father Bernard Slowey who married Rose Reily my gr grandfather was Patrick Joseph Slowey born 3/04/1887 in Wishaw Lanarkshire married Ellen Rose Printy/Prunty had my grandfather Patrick to Margaret Leonard they never married Patrick and Ellen had a son Francis Joseph and immigrated to Livonia Michigan USA
I know my gr grandfather lived in Hill St Wishaw and in Berryhill Craigneuk/Wishaw I do belive they are connected to the Glasgow Slowey's and I would like to know their journey from Clones to Glasgow /Lanarkshire

Rose Marie

Once again, Clones is in County Monaghan so I'll move this thread to the correct board but here's a link to earlier Slowey topic already there-

Hi OP,

There are many strands of the Slowey family in and around the Clones area. I myself come from the Feigh (near Rosslea co Fermanagh, but in the Clones admin district) Slowey branch.
Whilst I have no Bernard's in my tree, thru my research I have found there to be quite a few Bernard Sloweys living in the area back in the mid to late 1800s.
So you will need to do more research.
I would suggest the following links is a good starting point.
1) https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1&countryId=1927084
2) http://www.fermanagh-gold.com/search1?term=slowey
3) http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/search_the_archives/will_calendars.htm
4) http://www.rooneys-of-roslea.com/front_page.html

If you can narrow down on the exact details of Bernard's marraige then you can get his marraige cert and this will open up the past by another generation as his and his brides parents will be listed.
