I can not find Sarah's Birth register for her place or date of birth, and i could only find a marriage in 1881 for a Sarah and Francis Travis??

You have the right marriage but is Travi on Orig.(had this problem with mis spelling many times)

Sarah gives her name as Barney born Clerkenwell  abt 1857 father George Barney a Carpenter. l have not been able to find a birth for her with matching details.
the problem l have is that in 1881 census she is living with my Francesco as married but did not marry until 1882 and l have all birth certs of her children from then on but, my grandfather Francis 1877 and his brother Charles 1879 l have not found their birth certs been looking for long time.
As l cannot find my Gt Grandfather on 1871 census assume he arrived after that date and met a young Sarah , or did he have a wife with him who died, but can find no reg, was Sarah illegitimate,was she a foundling an renamed by finder, so many questions!!

Hello Sandra,

Have you look at all the census's? Try to match a George in a Census with the profession and area, etc. It may be spelt Burney or Birney? But then what is the nearest to what i found is:

Births Dec 1856   (>99%)

Barney  Sarah Ann Rebekah    Aston  6d 277   
Birney  Sarah     Portsea  2b 390   

Which is not in Middlesex?

Maybe she was illigitamate? As Francesco was married after Francis and Charlie was born, i looked for their Mothers maiden anem 'Barney', but also had no luck?

Hi Jamie,
I have looked at all census returnes but nothing comes up with Sarah with George as father, l have also search for Francis and Charles birth unbder maiden name but again brick wall.
I often go back and check even to every Francis born about that time but which ones do you choose? assuming Sarah is their mother.
We can saftly say Francesco is their father because of his descendants looks !!
l will continue you search hoping one day l will find his birth.
