Euston - Tryddyn Nth Wales
« on: Friday 20 May 05 14:47 BST (UK) »
Hello I am searching for Walton Harry Euston born c1880 in Tryddyn to William Euston (veterinary surgeon) and Mary Euston nee Newton. Walton moved to Aust in about 1904 & married Ella Gertrude Smith in 1917. They had 3 children (1920, 1923, 1927) before Walton died in Melbourne on 6.1.1930. I was wondering if anyone knows of a register of Veterinary surgeons in about the 1870's???        Any help however tenuous would be greatly appreciated.
With Kindest Regards Peter Euston

Hi Peter,

there are no Eustons at all in Wales in 1881.

Looking for William Euston in 81 in England gave 9 results:
Select records to download - (50 maximum)
 1. William EUSTON - Son   Birth: <1876> Buxhall, Suffolk, England
 2. William EUSTON - Son   Birth: <1880> Clifton, Cumberland, England
 3. William EUSTON -  Son   Birth: <1865> Derby, England
 4. William EUSTON - Nephew   Birth: <1879> St Georges E, Middlesex, England
 5. William EUSTON - Head   Birth: <1831> Aldgate, Middlesex, England
 6. William C. EUSTON - Son   Birth: <1880> Warwick, England
 7. William D. EUSTEN - Son   Birth: <1866> Harrow, Middlesex, England
 8. William EUSTON - Head   Birth: <1828> Egham, Surrey, England
 9. William H. EUSTON - Son   Birth: <1872> Egham, Surrey, England

We can discount no 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 9

No 5 was a gun smith
No 8 was an ag lab. An Ag lab however, might have had veterinary knowledge, so I had a closer look. However he is married to Emma.

There are no Walton Eustons at all.

There are 6 Waltons in Wales, but all older than 9, so that counts yours out. Sorry I can't do any more. If you know where or when William was born I can have a look at 71 and 61 for you.

D

Have you got any certificates for the family?

Peter, all is not lost.

Looking at the BMD I found this one:

Name:    Euston, William
Record Type:    Deaths
Quarter:    March
Year:    1844
District:    Great Boughton
County:    Cheshire Flintshire
Vol / Page:    19 / 22

the only other Eustons are:

Name Year Quarter Record Type District County

Euston, Edith 1899 December Births Pontypridd GLA
Euston, Henry 1896 December Marriages Pontypridd GLA
Euston, Ivy 1897 December Births Pontypridd GLA
Euston, John 1902 September Births Pontypridd GLA
EUSTON, Robert Enderby 1904 June Births CMN
Euston, Ruth 1848 September Marriages Merthyr Tydfil BRE / GLA
Euston, Ruth 1858 March Deaths Merthyr Tydfil BRE / GLA
Euston, Samuel 1878 December Births Knighton HER / RAD / SAL
Euston, William 1844 March Deaths Great Boughton CHS / FLN

But again, the BMD is also not complete.

There are 8 Eustons in Wales in 1861, but they are all one family in Glamorgan. In 1901 there are 5 - this time 2 families, different ones though, and again in Glamorgan.

In fact, the only Walton Euston on the entire Ancestry database is on the world tree, entered by an Australian called Bryan Hall. I'll PM you his email address, as Waltons details are exactly those you've given.

Following our conversation in the chatroom last night I've been trying to find your Walton EUSTON - Nothing. ???

He's got an unusual name so he ought to be fairly easy to trace but I can't see a birth registration for him or a marriage for his parents.(but could have missed them)

He ought to be in the 1881, 1891 & 1901 census but I can't see him.

The 1891 census shows just one Walton Harry - he's aged 10, but with the surname ADDIS livng in Lancashire with his parents Thomas & Catherine.  Thomas is a house decorator.

I hope by "bumping this up" someone else might take another look.

Hello Bearcat and thankyou for your efforts. As you have found Walton Harry EUSTON (even though unusual) is proving to be quite elusive. I can only gues that either his Parish Records have not yet been fully transcribed or that for some reason know only to Walton that he changed his name and other details. I have been within 6ft of him (at Springvale Cemetery) and yelled at him but that didn't help either.
Thankyou again for all your trouble.
Kind Regards
Peter Euston
