Hi,

Welcome to Rootschat.  Do you know Donald's parents' names?  There is a death record on the familysearch site for a Donald Inrig, born in Scotland around 1885.  He died in Welland County Ontario in 1929.  His parents were James Inrig and Janet Cornack.  The Niagara area was in Welland County and Lincoln County at that time... now it is its own Regional Municipality.

1911 census might have them in British Columbia!!  See the bottom of this page.  They have a son James, born in Ontario in 1907.  Also a daughter Florence S. born in BC in 1909.  Donald's brother Alec is with them.   Fred Ely is rooming with them

Does any of this sound like your family?

Hi,

I think what I found might be correct.  Familysearch has a record of a death in Ontario for a William Francis George Inrig.  He died in Welland, Ontario on 1 Sept 1929 - his parents were Donald Inrig and Agnes Ely.  His birth date and place were 12 Nov 1921 in Victoria, British Columbia.

Agnes ( lived to a very ripe old age!)  Donald, James and William Francis George buried at Fairview cemetery...Niagara Falls
http://www.niagarafalls.ca/city-hall/municipal-works/cemetery/genealogy/default.aspx?cachebuster=1336946430000&l=inrig

There is a death for a child, Melvin of  Abraham Lincoln Dell and Florence Sarah Inrig
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JKZL-H5R  He seems to be buried at Drummond hill cem. but the parents are in fairview...
Abraham Lincoln Dell ( older gent, so if correct man, seems to have been married previously in U.S.  ) https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JKZ2-YJH
Just realized Melvin and his father both died 1929 as well...must have been that aweful flu epidemic...two fathers and two sons the same years (added: not father but grandfather as found by Debbie and R.K in later replies)

Hi J.J.

Ummm - you are way ahead of me on this one.  I am not sure where to find Florence's first marriage.   :) :).  I don't see it on familysearch or on the ontario vital statistics project site.   I don't have Ancestry at the moment either.

However, I did a general search on Ancestry for Florence Inrig.  I can't see details, but there are 2 passenger list records for her.  Perhaps someone with Ancestry can have a peek.

Oh, sorry R.H., for assuming... :) I am sure someone can post the details... father is miss transcribed as Donald Ming  ;D so would have been a tough find had it not been for Melvin's information

The marriage 23 Aug 1926 between Abraham Lincoln Dell, 23, labourer, s/o John A. Dell and Lottie Cronkride( ?) showed he was a bachelor and Florence Sarah was an 18 year old spinster.  Ancestry has her last name indexed as Furey and the alternate Ming has been added.  Doesn't appear that there was a first marriage for either party - just another ancestry mistranscription.

Added:  Abraham was born 24 Oct 1906 in Elgin County - the older Abraham was probably a relative.

Hi,

From the census records, it looks like the older Abraham was the grandfather of the younger one, and father of John A Dell.

Here is Abraham b 1906 on the 1911 census with his mother Lottie and his brothers.  Father John is on the previous page.

http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/SplitView.jsp?id=43825&frag=e082/e002034487&dir=1911a

http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/SplitView.jsp?id=43824&frag=e082/e002034486&dir=1911a

If you want, you can find John A Dell on the 1901 census with his father Abraham.   John A Dell is 19.  His father Abraham's birth year is incorrectly written as 1871 - but he is 40 years old.  The birth year for the older Abraham must be 1861.
