Could someone please let me have details of Emily Walls on 1901 census.  She was born 1898 in York.  From a basic search of 1911 census, her parents could be William and Ann.

With many thanks.

Hello Jen

No, I don't think so.  According to freebmd she was born York 1898.  Plus a sister Annie aged 7 comes up on the basic search of 1911 but no Robert.

Many thanks for looking for me.

With kind regards.

I agree with Jen, the 1911 census you mention, where she has a 7yr old sister Annie, says shes born c1899 West Cottingwith, birthplaces/ages of the parents are both correct too

I can't see any other candidate for your Emily in 1901.

The family I found is in the registration district of Great Ouseburn. This is where the family is in 1911 and there is a Robert Walls aged 16 in a different household - possibly lodging with his employer.

Have you checked Emily's place of birth on the 1911 census as well as on her birth registration?

Oops, sorry Cat, I missed your post!

there are these birth registrations  FreeBMD
Emily Walls
Sept qtr 1895 York 9d 38

Emily Walls Dec qtr 1898 York 9d 63

Having a birth registered in York district does not mean the birth ocurred in York itself -but within the registration district

There is an Emily Walls age 5 in 1901 and age 15 in 1911 who gives p.o.b. as York, Yorkshire  -her parents are Samuel & Isabella

I suspect she is the 1895 birth

The only other Emily Walls to be found b Yorks c. 1898 is the Emily with parents William & Ann - on 1901 & 1911 -details given to you

Did your Emily marry John Pryce in 1922??
if so I have full details

Hello Jen and Cat

Thank you both for spending your time on this one.  I have Emily marrying a Harold Probert in 1923 in York.  I think I will have to send for a copy of their marriage certificate which should then confirm Emily's father's name.

I have Bardy marrying Walls in York, Bardy marrying Probert in York and now Probert marrying Walls.  I should imagine they are all connected somehow, it's just working out how.

With many thanks again for your time and effort.  It is greatly appreciated.

With kind regards.

Hello Suz

Thank you for your input.  The Emily Walls I am interested in married Harold Probert in 1923 (Harold was born in 1898 in York (1901 census)).  Unfortunately, I do not have a Samuel Walls in my tree (it would have made life easier!).  To confirm things one way or the other I will send for a marriage certificate.

Many thanks for your time.

Kind regards.

Hi,

The Emily Walls who married John Pryce in 1922 had a father William Walls -occ Roadman
Witnesses were W Walls and Annie Walls

I thought it sounded like Emily daughter of William and Ann with sister Annie ???
