The online Irish BMD Index on FamilySearch covers up to 1958, so to search for more recent events you have to visit the GRO Research Room at Abbey Street in Dublin.

Your profile doesn't mention where you are located...

Thanks Shane,
I am based in Spain, and should say I am merely giving free help to a lady who is seeking history of her birth mother.
The mother,  as far as I can tell may, or  may not, have
married in ireland, maybe Wicklow.
Would the offices carry out any searches via email.

dont believe they have an email contact.

There's a phone number on their webpage - they might be able to do a search for you if you have enough details. 'Maybe Wicklow' and 1970s sounds like quite a wide search... unless it's an uncommon name

The Head Office is in Co. Roscommon - see : www.groireland.ie

Thanks again Shane.
I will pass thison.
To make matters more complicated there are several names which could have been used.
Thanks for your very prompt response.
