Thanks for all the help.  I have grown the Kernes family tree quite well.  I am unable to get past the father Samuel (1927), father (also Samuel).  I have a record that he Died in 1831 after fathering 3 children. 

I am unable to find any records of his birth or parents. 

Also, Samuel (1872) came to South Africa some time before his eldest son John was born in 1907 (my maternal grandfather was one of them).  Will I find records of them leaving UK?  I am going to try looking for records of them arriving here.

Please point me in the right direction.

I have attached a photo of my grandfather John Ness Kernes taken in 1831 with his new car.
