Hello,
Just my luck!
I get my Great-Grandmother's birth certifcate - ELIZABETH ANN HEYES, 1st Jan 1885 and what looks like 90 Grove Street, St Helens
I knew her father Thomas Heyes and have his family but I knew nothing of the mother apart from some snippets:
First there is a parish record online for a baptism - ELIZABETH ANN HEYES daughter of Thomas and Mary Heyes, 21st Jan 1885
Also Elizabeth was with her grandmother in 1891 and her father remarries, so I think her mother dies and sure enough there is a Mary Ellen Heyes aged 26 or 29 who is buried 1889 in St Helens Cemetery like the other Heyes.
So I was expecting a Mary and/or Ellen and I did some research before the certifcate came and found a few probable marriages but her maiden name as listed on the birth certifcate is WINSTANLEY
I can't find a decent match. There is a 1883 marriage in Prescot probable but the Winstanley is an Emma, while the other people are Mr Woods and MARY ELLEN RALPH. Is it likely the forenames are the wrong way round??? --- I've never seen that, so unlikely.
Again the only other outcome if there are no matches is that she was married before. Her age is against her there. The marriage I liked the look of best before I got the certifcate was Thomas Heyes and Mary Ellen Foy. A search of a WINSTANLEY - FOY marriage brings nothing up.
