Hi,
I have rough dates for John (son) abt 1870 Little Bolton Lancashire, England and for his mother Jane abt 1837 Sedgley, Staffordshire, England. They were thought to arrive in NSW  abt 1886.
The remainder of the WILSON family consisting of the mother, Jane 49 and John 16, (+another brother?)  emigrate in 1886  Either Jane was divorced, or husband William or even the rest of the family too dies, or for some reason stayed behind in the UK? Their last known address was 28 Addison Street, Wednesbury, Stafford, England.
Jane was thought to be round 49 on arrival to Australia and John 16 yrs.
The Whole family below; William (father) no dates found.
Jane (nee Hill) abt 1837 d. 1917 (mother)
John (son) abt b. 1870 d. 1941
Carmi, Hill (son) abt 1852 d.1933
William, Charles (son) abt 1856

Any help would be greatly excepted.

Thanks again, Fran
Mary Anne (daughter) b. abt 1861
Joseph (Son) b. abt 1865

Some passenger lists to NSW :
http://mariners.records.nsw.gov.au

http://srwww.records.nsw.gov.au/indexes/searchform.aspx?id=9

As John was about 16 when you have his likely arrival to NSW, most likely the images of passenger lists would have him as travelling as a Single Male, hopefully noting he was related to another passenger “Mother on Board” or similar in any remarks on the lists.

You have the year of death for Jane Wilson 1917 (the mother) and John Wilson (the son) 1941.  If these were in NSW, do you have their dcs please and if so from the dcs   “How Long in the Colonies/States” for each please.

Wilson is a popular surname in NSW.  For example on the NSW BDM online Index there are two different Jane WILSON deaths registered in 1917 in the district of Auburn (western Sydney suburb).

Cheers,  JM

The others would possibly be married and have made their own independant lives so didn't want to come. Did William die I wonder?
I'll take a look see what i can find.

On freeBMD there are 2 or 3 deaths that could be your William Wilson born c1831. Ages a couple of years out but that is nothing. However I would have expected his death to be regisitered in the Dudley area which covers Sedgely but there isn't one there. he could have been working away from home and his death would then be registered in the area he died.

I couldn't find him on the 1891 census so am inclined to think his  death is a possibility.
