You haven't attached a photo yet?

Restorations are done on a separate board- would you like me to move this thread to it and then you can modify your post by adding the picture?

You may have tried to attach the picture but it never appeared. Will move this to    Photograph Restoration & Dating board but have a look here to see if you can get the picture up-

Please restore and date the attached. The legend on the reverse of the photo is "James Fisher first world war" as this was written many years after the photo was taken,it is not reliable evidence

Many thanks

It could be pre or post WW1 it's impossible to say as the mount was used over quite a long period.I'm no military expert but he looks to be a Lieutenant but I'm not sure about the RASC collar dog.
I'll put a link on he armed forces board.

Great job Jim! Thank you very much,I have a friend who is ex Blues and Royals he handed the print to a military uniform specialist and they indicated the possibility of his Majority.Certainly he did 21 years in the ASC retiring in 1902 after 21 years as a Regimental Sergerant Major. The biggest question is how he fetched up in Belfast in 1914 as an officer aged 57?
Once again many thanks to you and Maureen.
