« on: Friday 18 May 12 06:11 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone

I have been trying to have a break through in my brickwall for a few years now. I would like to see if this Edith May Hanson d. 15 Aug 1960 aged 75.  Published in SMH 17 Aug 1960 is part of our family tree. I would be grateful if anyone can tell me what information is in the ad.  Many thanks.

Hi
So who was your Edith May, someone may be able to find soomething if you post some more info about her.

Usually when you can't find a womans death it is because she has remarried or repartnered and dies under another surname.

Who were her parents and when was she born, when is your last sighting of her, where were all her family living.

Hi Mum Mum

Thanks for your post. Our family has done a few previous posts in the last few months on rootschat for Edith May Crook (nee Wyatt).  There was great feedback but no new leads.  We even extended our search to NZ and the UK with no luck.

Last record we have for her is 1943 Electoral Roll Entry for Sydney.

What was Edith's address in 1943 as the last enrolment I can find for Edith May is with her Robert James CROOK in 1937.

Where and when did Robert James CROOK die?

Do you have his death certificate?  If so, what was his marital status at time of death?

Did they have any children?

Cheers
Cando

I assume you have already eliminated the 1943 death of an Edith May Crook  in Sydney?  I'm guessing the parents' names are wrong.

reg # 141/1943    CROOK    EDITH MAY   father THOMAS RAY    mother EDITH MARY in Sydney

cheers,
   Ros

Adding : Dundee mentioned on another thread that she has just seen yet another death certificate where informant named his own parents rather than deceased parents.

Hi Everyone

Thanks Rosball for info which I have seen before not our Edith.

Cando your ER date 1937 is correct. My date was for another person I am researching.

We do have the Robert Crook death certificate.

Thanks everyone for your help.

We do have letters from NSW & Qld BDM's advising there is no record of a death or another marriage after 1937. Can a BDM make a mistake?  We have looked at other states and their on line indexes and found nothing.

Recently we did write letters to a few people we thought were descendants and unfortunately they have not replied.

Are we permitted to have any info ;D

All sorts of scenarios spring to mind.

Edith may have entered into another relationship and died using the surname of her partner.  How could any bdm Registry possibly identify  Edith's death if she was using a partner's surname and with possibly no parental details?

She may have retained her married name of CROOK but not enrolled to vote post 1937 and even the enrolment of her in 1937 is no guarantee that she was actually living at the address in 1937.

She may have changed her name entirely and died with that name.

She may have moved to a State that does not have online electoral records.
