I think you are right about Mary Ann Vollner being William Gibson Burns' 2nd wife.  I was curious when William Lancaster died.  Can you be of help on this? (FYI, it has always struck me as odd that Wm.G. Burns did not emigrate to the US with his wife and son Jabez.   I have records (letters and diary entries which show that he visited at least once and perhaps twice.)

I think Wm G. died in the US, but I am not 100% certain of that.

BTW, I really appreciate all the help that I have received on RootsChat.

Was William Burnes living alone in this census?  Was a Mary Ann Lancaster living in close proximity to him?

I want to thank you for your help.  It has taken me a bit to get the hang of how this works, so my thanks may not have come across.

Mary may I ask you a few questions

How do you know she was such much older than her husband,

when she marries she isnt a widow and where does the Gibson come from ,William doesnt state this on his marriage details to Elizabeth Horrocks,

and when and where did William die

Elizabeth Horrock Burns was listed as 60 years of age in the 1850 US. Census for New York City and  72 years of age in the 1860 Census for New York.  This would put her DOB between 1798 and 1800 --- so perhaps family "talk' was not so accurate.

Elizabeth Horrock Burns died in NYC at the home of her son Jabez.

I think that Wm. G Burns may also have died in NYC, but I am not 100% sure of that.

I am interested in finding out more about Elizabeth Horrocks.  Do you have any ideas how to proceed?

Thanks again for all the help you have provide so far.  Greatly appreciated.
