All three returned. It's best to post them as three individual restores on separate threads.

They aren't too good but I've seen worse. I wonder if they could be rescanned and forwarded to you as jpg image files ?

As for saying how I did it - I truly haven't a clue.  :-[ :-[

Thanks Pels - I'll ask my cousin in Australia to scan them in as individual photos at as high a resolution as she can!  I've posted G Gran already, I'll wait a day or so before doing the others...

Once again, many thanks for your computer wizardry!

Oh Pels, would you mind telling me how you did it so I can do it myself in future?  Thanks!  Phil.

Hi again Phil,

I was chatting to 'gnu' and she pointed me in this direction for an explanation :

Just for the record, this is what I've been doing:

*Open the pdf file and make sure the image is 100% or more.
*Select the Adobe 'snapshot' tool
*Drag the snapshot tool over the page. A message comes up saying that it has been placed on the clipboard.
*Open your graphics program of choice, if not already open.
*Paste (from the the clipboard ) as a new image in the graphics prog.
*Save as jpg.

Repeat with each pdf page.  Takes about a minute per page.

gnu

Note that the Snapshot tool is within the Adobe pdf reader and is not the same as the Windows Vista/7 Snipping tool
