Help Needed - Launceston District death
« on: Sunday 20 May 12 23:46 BST (UK) »
I have a Death record for a person in Launceston District of Cornwall whom I think could possibly be an ancestor I am searching for. The death was registered in 1995.
I am looking for advice on what my best course of action would be to "rule this person in or out" of the ancestors.
If I sent for the Death Cert would it have the mothers maiden name?

Other than sending for this death Cert are there any other avenues I could explore!!!!!

Regards

English death certificates do not give mothers maiden name.

The later ones should give -
Name,
date and place of birth (this could be innacurate as it depends whether the informant has these details)
date and place of death.
Cause of death
Name and address of informant and sometimes relationship to deceased

I presume the index that you found this record on states the date of birth

If it was from the index on Anc* the age at death is probably calculated by them using difference between date of birth and date of death.  :)

I presume you don't have their birth certificate and therefore a date to compare with the death cert.

The death record I found is the only one I could find fitting the criteria I have.
