Hi CaroleW

Before this Topic is closed may I add a little bit of Information???

I would like to tell Adeline B to view the Site of The British Newspaper Archives.

This Site may be of some help.

Sorry I do not have the Link but if Adeline "Googles" it then the Site will be there.

I use this Site quite a lot and I think it is very good to find events that you wish to Research.

Brian

Hi Adeline B

Just got a Link for you.

www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk

Sorry I got it in the wrong place but I am new to this Technology so kindly fogive me for my mistakes.

I think you will find it very interesting...Unfortunately there is a Fee for any Copies of the Newspapers....

Anyway have a look at the Site and see what you think.

If you select what you are looking for ie. "92 year old gets mugged" then it will give the appropriate
Newspapers to select and the you have the option to Purchase the relevant Item.

Hope this is helpful.

If I find any more for you I`ll let you know OK?

Happy Hunting

Brian

You can also access this dataset if you have a subscription to FindMyPast.

Personally I find the search engine on the newspaper archive site a lot more refinable and get better search results but as the results tell you the date and newspaper, I then use my FindMyPast sub to read the articles at no extra charge.

Try your local library or local studies archive to see if they have a library subscription to FindMyPast, as more and more are taking them in addition to Ancestry Library Edition.
