David Tanner. Gloucester/shire

I am researching the family of David Tanner and Matilda ? from Gloucester/shire. Their sons Frederick Arthur Tanner b. c. 1856 and William b.c. 1854 both emmigrated to NZ on the Hannibal in 1875 as Colonial Nominated Men. David Tanner was a Plumber and Glazier, .   I don't know if William returned to England as I have no further knowledge of him in New Zealand.  David Tanner believed to have been born possibly  Herefordshire or Monmouthshire.

I found this family on the transcripts of the 1851 census for Gloucestershire
and think it might be the one you are looking for:

The International Genealogical Index shows that David Tanner was
christened on 20th Mar 1811 at Wotton under Edge, Glos. He was the
son of Jonas and Susannah.

FreeBMD shows that David Tanner married Charlotte Carter in the Qtr to Sept
1839 in the district of Gloucester.

FreeBMD gives the following registrations of births - all in the district of Wheatenhurst,
which includes Eastington:

Albert                  Qtr to Sept 1843
Jonas                   Qtr to Mar 1845
Susan                  Qtr to Mar 1847
Hannah Maria         Qtr to Dec 1848
Male                     Qtr to June 1850
Thomas                 Qtr to June 1852

I think the Thomas shown on the census should actually be Jonas.

Unfortunately, I cannot find any entries for the births of Frederick or William.

FreeBMD also shows the death of a David Tanner in the district of Wheatenhurst
in the Qtr to June 1857. This could be the David Tanner shown above, or possibly
another later child.

Finally, FreeBMD has an entry for the registration of the death of Jonas Tanner in the
district of Dursley in the Qtr to Sept 1847. Wotton under Edge is part of this district,
so I assume it relates to David's father.

I am helping a friend whose g.grandfather was Jonas Tanner born 1846 Gloucestershire.  Jonas married Martha LEWIS in 1866 Gloucestershire.  If I am following the correct line of family.

Jonas and Martha came to NZ before 1874 when their daughter Charlotte Matilda was born.

Is this family I am looking at connect with your David Tanner?

There is a David Tanner and his wife Elizabeth Ann also on Electoral Rolls in New Zealand.
