Ewing family of Balloch castle
« on: Wednesday 23 May 12 22:03 BST (UK) »
Hey

Dont know if anyone can help me, I have an ancestor called Agnes Ewing born at Balloch Castle in 1820 ish in Dumbartonshire, her father James Ewing, I know there is an Ewing family connection to Balloch castle but I cant find my 2 within it and wondered if any one had any information or advise. On Agnes' marraige certificate James is a servant but I have no more info than that on him.
Thankyou in advance

Hi Claire,
Have a look at familysearch.org. Agnes was born 11 May 1820, Bonhill, Dunbarton to James Ewing and Janet Gilfillan. You can also find her siblings here too by putting in surname only and the parents' names.
His birth - a shot in the dark, only because James and Janet had a child called Archibald! - there was a James Euing born 22 Dec 1779, Dumbarton, Dunbarton. Parents: Archibald Euing and Mary Oliver.
I know this has nothing to do with Balloch Castle. I haven't much time at the moment but will have another look next week.

Thankyou

will have a look at these names see if I can make anything stick,  Balloch castle is still a mystery on how the Ewing families are connected could just be a big coincidence that she was born at this castle.
