Annette7: This is very interesting. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the same Rhoda, though Lorna was her daughter's name and it perplexes me that she used it.

Can anyone suggest the best way for me to obtain a copy of the death certificate? I would like to share this information with my aunts and uncles who were Rhoda's nieces and nephews.

Milliepede: I believe she married Mr Middlemiss in Manchester in 1937. The D probably does stand for Dean, as this was her maiden name. As for Kathleen Mary Swing, I am not sure how I missed this on family search - the time and date are right, and it is very likely that Rhoda was the mother as they were married in 1922.

The time line and changes of name are a little confusing aren't they.

If I have it right she was Dean, Swing, Jackson, Middlemiss, Crowther.

Which country did she marry Mr Crowther and when was daughter born?  Daughters birth is a big piece of the puzzle.

Just wondering if there was an army connection, the army had barracks at Colchester, Aldershot, Manchester and of course India.

Lorna Ruth must have been born in 1931 in India.

There was definitely an army connection - Cyril Middlemiss served in the Indian army during WWII, and one of the destination addresses listed for Rhoda Crowther was a corps depot in Aldershot.

I am assuming she followed Mr Crowther to Colchester

She and Lorna also sailed from Bombay to London arriving 8 March 1935.  She 26 and Lorna 4.
