Eli T (Thornton) Sprague Born Dec 14, 1812 Died May 31, 1875

His Wife Hannah F. Born June 24, 1821 - Died In Scotia, Cal. Jan 9, 1889

http://www.sprague-database.org/genealogy/getperson.php?personID=I41970&tree=SpragueProject

Mentions Orrelia born 1859 and Clara Arvilla Sprague born 1859 Alexander. Washington. Maine. Died 1899 Humboldt County Ca (aged 39 years) This is a contradiction of what we read previously.  ???

Not sure if this is a red-herring but will endeavour to check it out  ??? Seems to be a marriage for a Clara Sprague 27 November 1889 in Humboldt County. California to George H Conant

http://www.rootschat.com/links/0mze/

and a Clara A Conant with George H on the 1900 Census, details seem to fit. Born 1859 Maine. Father born Canada and Mother Maine but Clara had 0 children  ??? The 2 Schribner boys were nephews.  ???  Yet the death of Seth Benton Scribner (1st February 1968) gives the mothers maiden name as Sprague. The death of Fred Scribner also gives the mothers maiden name as Sprague.

Aaah, it would seem that the 2 Scribner boys were sons of Clara's sister Leila Sprague (born about 1863) who married Benton Scribner 28 th June 1884 Lambert Lake. Washington Co. Maine.

Hello Sandra - thanks for your references Where did you find the birth date of Harry 15/16 May 1881? It would seem that Harry's mother died a few days after he was born. I wonder what happened to the family after that event I have tried to find another marriage for George - came across a marriage of a Georgev Avery to a Mrs Maria Page - but no info as to his maritul status [widower with children] this was also in Washington County ME. Any ideas on how to proceed? It's a very complicated business genealogy - you sem to find out things much quicker than I have been able to. Thanks again. Margaret.

Hi Margaret,

The birth date for that particular Harry Avery came from WW1 draft and death record, the WW2 draft gave 15 May 1880 - he appeared to belong to a George Avery and Laura Sprague. If he had been born in May 1880, he would have appeared on the census with the family but he wasn't there  ??? The family tree entry lists him as the last child of 7 born to the couple. May try and trace some of those children, later today.

Followed the other Sprague family with Orrelia who then seems to become Clara Arvilla and she didn't seem to fit.

Back to the drawing board.

If that was the correct mother for Harry then Laura Sprague would be easier to follow in 1860 Jefferson, Lincoln, Maine. All born Maine. Wonder what the middle initial "A" is for  ??? The marriage record for Harry said the mother was Oridell  ???

Charles Sprague 31  Eunice Sprague 29
Laura Sprague 5  Wm H Sprague 2  Perly V Sprague 1

1870 - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M6DP-91G

then the marriage to George Avery 16 Oct 1870

1880 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MF3T-YMT
