Jens Peder Pedersen
« on: Wednesday 30 May 12 23:59 BST (UK) »
Hoping to find more details about the Danish side of my family.

My Great Great grand father was Jens Peder Pedersen, I have recieved copies of imimigration records listing his father as Peder Pedersen his mother as Maren Mikkelsen

He was born in Struer, Ringkoping, Denmark

Wife Olga K Andersen

Her parents were listed as Christiane Andersen and Johanne Hansen

If there is anything you can help with reguard siblings, more details on either Peder or Maren, or Olga's Parents and/or her siblings. I'm trying to get the details to give to my Father, Jens' Pedersen's grandson, for Father's Day

Hello,

Do have an approximate birth years for any of  them?

Struer is in Ringkøbing county.

Many Danish censuses have been transcribed into seacrchable databases. Though all are not complete, we may be lucky.

Justin

I would first suggest that search through the original census images and parish registers (Kirkebøger) viewable at www.arkivalieronline.dk

Generic instructions are provided in Englsih.

You'll need to know Amt, Herred and Sogn which you can determine from here http://www.dis-danmark.dk/kort/kort.htm

E.g. Torslev parish (sogn) is in the SW corner of Hjørring Amt, in Øster han herred.

Hoepfully, you can at least find Olga and her family in Torslev.

You should also search online transcriptions of the 1880 census at http://ddd.dda.dk/dddform2_uk.asp.

The difficulty is that Pedersen is extremely common, you do not know whether Peder and Maren were already married then, or exactly where either of them might have been living. Some of the entries also list the maiden name for married women. Judging by the movements of the Andersen family, you should search in adjacent counties (Amt).

I'll see if I can find any leads.

I've made some progress!!

1890 Hjørring, Dronninglund, Torslev, Skender Bak Hus
Johane Katrine Hansen, 27
Olga Karen Marie Andersen, 2

so sign of Dad.

1880 Aalborg, Kær, Biersted, Nørhalne By, , en Gaard, 69 [3],
Johanne Kath Hansen, 17, servant girl for Niels Pedersen Byrholt

1870 Aalborg, Kær, Biersted, Nørhalne distrikt, , Nørhalne Bye, Huus, 270,
Johanne Catrine, 7, with parents and two brothers

The village is Nørhalne, not Norholm.

I'm pretty confident that I have Johanne Catrine Hansen's patrilinealancestry back to the 1740s !!!

You are totally awesome. I'm trying to get into the first link you gave me but I'm having trouble opening aspx files on my computer so for now I'm trying variations of the translated census records. No luck yet.

Hello,

I had to install some extra software before I can view the images, but it's worth it.

Well, I've pretty much nailed the families down as far back as the early 1800s, as you can see in the attached document. I hope you can make sense of it.

The Pedersen/Petersen and Mikkelsen families moved between the parishes on the north and south coasts of  Venø Bay. Olga's ancestors came from the parishes to the east of Aalborg on the northern side of the Langerak.

I'll let you digest the information. Justin

You are amazing again Justin thank you!!! When I get my project done for my Dad I will send you a link to it, I am putting together a website with the history and pictures of the places themselves for Father's Day. This is so awesome!! I'm not sure but I might have found a slightly older lineage for Peder Larsen Yde at http://www.hheriksen.dk/aner/f994.htm
