Looking for Clarke in Inver
« on: Thursday 31 May 12 12:13 BST (UK) »
My great- great-grandparents were Andrew Clarke and Isabella maiden surname looks like Cottor. Their daughter Susan Clarke married James McFadyen in Falkirk, Sirlingshire, in June 27  1887.
Susan was born in Inver and I've found an Andrew Clarke in Inver in Griffiths 1857 which is ten years before Susan was born so that seems to fit but there are no Clarkes there in the 1901 census.
I also cannot find a family with the surname Cottor in Inver.
Any info on these families would be appreciated

Maureen

The sub-district mentioned on the birth, MountCharles, includes most, if not all, of the civil parish of Inver. One of the townlands in the parish is named 'Inver Glebe'.

The registration district for the area is Donegal - based in the town.

There also a Catherine Clarke 16 Nov 1867 born in the same area with the same parents - see :

The Andrew Clarke you mentioned on Griffith's is listed in Gortaward townland / Inver Civil parish, and listed next to a William Coulter. Maybe related to Isabella ?

There's also entries for an Alexander and Adam Coulter in the same townland

The Andrew on the 1901 census married a Susan Gillen

This is the details for the marriage in case you want to get the cert

Andrew Clarke
Date Oct-Nov-Dec 1885
District Donegal
Volume: 2 Page: 38 \

This appears to be another of Andrew and Susan's children living with Susan's brother !

you beat me to it by seconds!

All fits together neatly - even the townland name on Griffiths and the census...
