Do you have the name of William's father ?

There are quite a few William Green births registered around the right time i.e. between 1866 and 1870, but there doesn't appear to be any in Co. Carlow listed in extracted birth records on Familysearch. It might be easier to narrow down the list using father's name...

see : William Green - 1866-1870

I'm not seeing any likely births in Co. Carlow around the right time for William in extracted records - see : William Green, father Thomas - extracted records

There's seemed to be one slight possibility on BMD Index - in Enniscorthy district, which covers a small part of Co. Carlow. But following this up shows that it took place in Oulart, in Co. Wexford, and father's name was Michael. Oulart is between Enniscorthy and the east coast - so not anywhere near Carlow.

see : William Greene 1866-1870

Besides Carlow registration districts based in the town, other districts which cover parts of the county include Athy, Baltinglass, Enniscorthy, New Ross & Shilleagh.

William's age is consistent on the two census returns but maybe he took a few years off at some stage, or maybe he was registered before his name had been selected.

what was the occupation for Thomas on that cert ?
