Hi Frances - thanks for your post.  Yes, this is a strange one.  The family are all over the place and so it's been really hard to track them down.  I hadn't thought about the boys fishing - does that mean they won't appear on a census?

I think the 1851 will have them at Kinsale (Mackerrel fishing at that time of year - herrings were a bit later)- in later censuses the Manx authorities ensured they were counted in with the IoM as the subvention from UK re excise duties etc was based on population
any thing with a Manx Connection
