1861 Census Thomas Byworth - COMPLETED WITH MANY THANKS TO KARENLEE
« on: Sunday 10 June 12 22:07 BST (UK) »
Could someone please let me have details of Thomas Byworth and family on 1861 census.  He was born December 1821 West Tofts, Norfolk.  I can't find him on 1881 census but from a basic search on 'GenesR' using date of birth and surname, there is a Thomas born Tofts located in Stockton, Yarm.  Details of the family would be most appreciated.

With grateful thanks.

Hello Karenlee

Thank you very much for the census details.  I feel sure it is the same Thomas I found on Genes but all the extra information is very helpful indeed.  It looks like the family were in Ireland for the 1851 census which would explain why I couldn't find a suitable Thomas on Genes.

Many thanks again for your help.

Kind regards.

Hi Zephr,

My wife is  a direct descendant of the Byworths who came to Yorkshire via West Tofts.

Thomas B 1790s married in West Tofts, had a few children there (including Mary, my wife's ggrandmother), moved to Tuxford in Notts, had a few more children, and then ended up in York where they settled. Thomas snr was a coach driver. The story in the family is that the Byworths were the first Hansom Cab drivers in York.

Do you want to share records? I'm on GenesReunited and ancestry.co.uk
Cheers,

Kevin Holland
