Christening
Hannah Harding 25 Nov 1798 Stapleton Glos
Parents samuel & Anne Harding

Christening
Thomas harding
1 feb 1818
Holy Trinity Stapleton Glos
parents samuel & Ann Harding

so it looks like Hannah was Thomas older sister who did not marry
and their parents are Samuel & Ann - possibly the Ann who is lodging with the Maidments in 1851??

George Harding 's father (if my research is correct) is Thomas Harding

This looks a possibility for him in 1841

Stapleton
Samuel harding 75
Ann 60
Hannah 40
Thomas 20 Engine turner?
jane 20
all b in county
HO10714 4 3

I cannot read samuel and Ann's occupations

As you know ages were rounded down to the nearest 5 yrs - or supposed to be??

Ann Harding who is lodging with the maidments in 1851 is age 60 - as she was just a lodger they may have guessed her age

Could Ann in 1841 be Thomas Harding's mother???
And so George's grandmother??

Or is Hannah age 40 Thomas' mother? and Ann his Grandmother???

this looks like Hannah in 1851

I found Thomas Harding married to a Hannah Wiltshire in Oct 1845. So, this will be George's mother Hannah. Ann is Thomas's mother.

Found Selina Maidment, now known as Maynard marriage to William Charles King 18/9/1898.
I wonder why they changed their name to Maynard??  ???

That's right - and the hannah harding in 1851 census is Thomas'sister - so George's Aunt!

Suz
Here is what I have found on freeBMD:
1871 census - surnames Maidmont:
Mary Jane MAYNARD on BMD Sep 1868 6a 149
Louisa Maidmont  no trace on BMD and not on any further census

1881 census - surnames Maidment:
Minnie b. 1870, no trace on BMD
Thomas - Thomas Henry MAYNARD on BMD Dec 1872 6a 153
Heald b. 1878- no trace on BMD
James b. 1880 - could be BMD: James Alfred MAYNARD b Dec 1879 6a 202

1891 census - surnames Maidment
Selina b.1878 - on BMD as Selina Maria MAYNARD b Dec 1877 6a 196, also marriage to William Charles King 18 Sep 1898 6a 250 (MAYNARD)
Gilbert b. 1883 on BMD as Gilbert MAIDMENT b Mar 1883 6a 189
Frederick b 1887 - on BMD as Frederick John MAYNARD b Sep 1886 6a 185

1901 census - surname Maynard
Ethel b 1890 - on BMD as Ethel Minnie MAIDMENT b Jun 1890 6a 183  Added to say - father is listed as Thomas and mother as Selina!! - possibly Selina went to help register the birth rather than Emily??

What was very intriguing is that I can't find any of Henry and Sarah Maidment's children on BMD under either Maidment or Maynard exc a few possibilities for Thomas, but I did find Sarah Ann, Thomas and Martha's christenings on Family Search under Maidment.

I've found Sarah Bready (who married Henry Maidment) on the 1841 census living with George and Ann Harding both born 1801. George is listed as Ag Lab. They are living in Rudgeway, Stapleton.
This ties in with Ann Harding who is living with Henry and Sarah on the 1851 census, although the dates of birth don't match and it is hard to tell who is who of the Hardings.

I think "Louisa" age 1 in 1871 census and "Minnie" age 11 in 1881 census are the same person

Although it looks like "Louisa" in 1871 I am wondering if it could be Lavinia

Birth reg freeBMD
Lavinia maynard
Jun qtr 1870
Clifton
6a 97

"Minnie" would be a nickname for "lavinia"????

What do you think???

Thanks Suz - it could be.
There is a Lavinia Athol Maynard christening in 1875 - same time as James Alfred, and Thomas Henry, so that is probably right.  Wonder where "Athol" came from.  Not sure if she died, married or what though...
