Scotch Fusiliers Guards - Pte Robert Allen - Chelsea Barracks
« on: Monday 11 June 12 15:38 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Where would I find information on the 'Scotch Fusiliers Guards' in 1873

I have a marriage certificate 1873 which states the Groom's Rank/Profession as the above.  His residence at time of marriage is 'Chelsea Barracks'

His name is Robert Allen and his place of birth is Scotland.  I do have them found on the Censuses until 1911. (so census information not required - Thank you) he and his family stay in London for their Residence.

Many Thanks Cancan :)

Maybe it is the Royal Scots Fusiliers that you should be looking for.

I think Chelsea Barracks is now demolished, but Scotch (Scots) Fusilier Guards became Scots Guards

The Royal Scots Fusiliers nor the Royal Scots or The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards are associated with the Scots Guards formerly Scots Fusilier Guards.

All fine Regiments

Hi,

Many thanks!!

The above link provided by Trevor has been a great help, I have been reading the site and trying to search using their search facility.
Managed to narrow down the Museum in London, but it states they are unable to help regarding research of persons.

Reading the site, I did see read that as mentioned above that 'Royal' doesn't seem to apply to this Regiment at the time.

I was rather hoping to track down a Record of the Gentleman with hope it may say exactly where he was born or enrolled and where he was possibly posted and served.

Must have been very dashing in his Uniform for my 5x Gt Aunt. :-*

Thank you

Cancan :)

Hi,

He was born in Scotland abt 1845, where abouts I've not got, this was what I was hopefully trying to find out.  He has always, on the Censuses just stated 'Scotland'

Thanks

Cancan :)
