I was once told that there are only:  Scotch whisky, Scotch eggs, Scotch broth, Scotch tape, and Scotch pie.  Everything else is Scots or Scottish - including Regiments...

Many thanks again,   I will give both addresses ago, will keep fingers crossed that one will be able to help.  Will post an update when I hopefully hear from them.

'Scotch' is what was written on the Certificate, so I'm thinking it was what he stated at the time.   ;)
