HARBIN in Bedwellty, Tredegar and Somerset
« on: Tuesday 12 June 12 13:30 BST (UK) »
Hi.  I'm trying to find the family of my great-great-great grandfather Alexander Gray HARBIN who emigrated to South Australia with his wife Hannah (WALL) and children Louisa, Samuel and Mary Ann in 1840, from Somerset, UK.  I don't know anything about his parents and possible siblings, the first record I have of him is his marriage (FreeREG) in 1830 in Castle Cary, Somerset.

I've changed my approach and have been following other HARBIN families I've come across in the hope that I might find him, and think I've actually put together a very "possible" family for him in Wales (using FreeREG, CEN and BMD).  The descendants of a possible brother lived in the Parish of Bedwellty, Town of Tredegar according to the 1871 Census, but I just don't have enough information to know if I'm on the right track.

Is there anyone else who is researching the HARBIN name in Wales (and Somerset) who could help me please?  Thankyou.
