1841 census,Jennings,Weathersfield
« on: Sunday 22 May 05 16:43 BST (UK) »
Could someone help me find details of the husband of Mary Jennings, around 24, and father of Joseph (6) and Mary Ann (1) in the 1841 census?  All born and probably still living in Weathersfield.

The ages you quote match Mary, Joseph and Mary Ann JENNINGS on the 1851 census.

1861 has the same, with new daughter Emily, age 9
Mary JENNINGS, age 34, is listed as Head, Unmarried.

Hi CP

Yes, you're quite right about the 1851. Young Emily was my great grandmother. By 1851 she was orphaned and the family were living with grandfather. I was hoping the 1841 would pin down the name of her elusive father, who may be another Jonathan, but I can't quite prove it! Thank you for your help.

1851 apparently has two JENNINGS families in Wethersfield.

Your Mary, with the two children, are with Jonathan, age 56 and George, age 18.

Other has John, 35
Mary, 39
John, 10
Eliza, 8
William, 1

There is also Catherine, 15, elsewhere in the village.

1841 I find John, Mary and John junior.
But I cannot find your family.

They SHOULD be there, or at least not far away.
