Completed. Elswick location please

In 1911, Newspaper compositor William Hutchinson and his family are living at Tweddle's Court in the Elswick district of Newcastle upon Tyne. Not been able to find this on old maps - can anyone help me please ?

 The Parish of St John's, one of the four ancient parishes of Newcastle, covered the western part of the city centre.
 
 The parish consisted of four " townships" running westwards in this order from the centre..
 St John's, Westgate, Elswick and Benwell.  Elswick appears on modern maps.

  Many streets in this locale were demolished in early C20th.

Googling Tweddle's Court Elswick shows a census entry saying it's off Sycamore Street.

I found Sycamore on an old OS reprint of Alan Godfrey's but there wasn't any obvious court or any area marked Tweddle's Court.

"Court" implies an interior area in the middle of surrounding streets, usually back streets or yards.

 According to 1911 enumerator Tweddle's Court was part of Maple Street.
 A bit of Maple Street still stands.

1911 census description:

Sycamore Street (both sides) from Gloucester Street to Maple Street including Tweddle's Court"

Looking at the OS map of Newcastle & Gateshead for 1894, at the east end of Sycamore Street it met Maple Street at a t-junction. There are a couple of what look like "courts" at this junction end of Sycamore Street with narrow lanes running into them then widening out between the back of the houses in Sycamore Street, Maple Street and Oak Street (the street on the south of Sycamore)

These could possibly be the location of Tweddle's Court but it's not definite as they aren't named on the map.

The three census returns I looked at were all 2 roomed dwellings.

From the info you have given - I have now located Tweddle's Court.

Oak Street ran paralel to, and between Sycamore Street and Scotswood Road.
No.25 Oak Street is also listed as on the Court.

it is listed as Tweddells Court.

I realise this research is quite old but when I put Tweddles court into Google it came up with your chat. I was totally amazed as you were researching my grandfather so I wondered if you are a distant relation.
I am researching my mother (Eleanor on the 1911 census) who died in 1960 and not having much luck.  Do you have any information on the Hutchinson family that may be of help to me.
