Have you checked the address in 1911?

Or his occupation?

I have the same problem with my Ansley's, but I reckon they were a bit "dodgy" and liked to keep on the move.
I'm sure that wouldn't apply to Ernest!

It could be just as simple as he did not fill in the census, avoided it,  distrusting. Many people did and still do . ( I avoid it today  ,  I filled in the last one  here (the previous one I didn't)  - and then I totally took the mick;D)

I do not have my g grandmother in any census until she married my g grandfather( born in 1871 , just before the 1871 census, I have her birth cert also her baptism record, I do not have her any census until she is married-. My gran, used to say they (her mother and family)moved around a lot avoiding inoculations ( my gran's words).

People's basic  feelings were no different then than they are today- it could be just as simple as they avoided it, or filled in the mickey mouse of that day .

Kind regards

I couldn't find a No. 347 Barbara.  I checked every household in the street.

He could possibly have been at the theatre at the time of the census and got missed off.

Don't dispair though as I said it took me eight years to find my great grandfather who was under a totally different name to that on his marriage cert.
