Carr Family Navan
« on: Saturday 30 June 12 17:42 BST (UK) »
Hi I am new here, so I hope I am doing this right.

I am looking for any info on the Carr family of Brews Hill Navan Co. Meath. I have found them on the 1911 census and I am looking specifically for info on the parent. Although all info is great. If anyone can help me. I seem to have hit a brick wall on this. Thanks folks.

Michael Carr born apx 1847
Annie Carr(Woods) born 1855. I know here parents were William Woods and Judy Mullen.

Thanks folks, doing this for my dad and really want to get some more info on this side of the family for him. ;)

This is the family in 1901 - surname mistranscribed as CORR

Thanks for finding them. I never thought to check the listing for brews hill so see if there was an error in transcription.

Going to check out that marriage too. My father believes they were from Skreen, Co Meath originally. But I can't find any listings for them in Skreen, ie burials etc.

Thanks again.  :)

Hi Tara,

I wonder could I ask you where you got the marriage info from. I had a look on familysearch.org but it is not coming up for me.

Thanks

The marriage references are available on the BMD Index on FamilySearch :

see : Michael Carr

        Anne Woods

Note the references are the same (year, district, volume & page), which means they appear on the same register page.

You need to order a cert from the GRO to see the full details.

see :  Ordering Certs from GRO Roscommon
Details included on a Marriage Cert

Thanks.

I was talking to my dad and he is going to try and find out where Michael came from originally, he thinks it was Skreen but he is not 100% sure, so together with that info and hopefully the info I get off the certs I should be able to find out more about them.

Michael,Anne and various offspring are listed in the following cemetery.  Maybe if you get to go to Navan, the inscriptions might have extra details.

There was only one Carr family listed in the Griffiths valuation.. name was John Carr, dated 1854 and living in Barrack lane, which is now Abbey rd.

Thanks, that is great info. Not sure if that is the same Carr family but hopefully it is. Is there anyway of going further on that information?
