John Kirkpatrick b 1830 Grouville, Jersey
« on: Sunday 01 July 12 04:55 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know what happened to John Kirkpatrick b abt 1830 Grouville, Jersey?  He was the son of John and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick from Applegarth.  John snr served in 4th Royal Artillery (which is why John jnr was born in Jersey), and was discharged because of ill health in 1835, when he returned to Scotland and lived in Chapelknow, Halfmorton together with his wife and 3 sons George, John and James.  James became a miner and lived in Whitehaven Cumberland, and George emigrated to South Africa.  John appears in the 1851 Scottish Census still living with his parents in Middlebie, and is a teacher, but after that he completely disappears. If anyone has any info I would be very grateful.
