Photos of Carfin
« on: Monday 02 July 12 13:15 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I was working if any one knows where I could see some old photos of Carfin. I've seen books of Motherwell and Newarthill but missing out Carfin. I have a few from the RC church website in Carfin and some from a neighbour.

Is there a source with more? Would the Heritage centre in Motherwell hold any?

Motherwell Heritage Centre would be your best bet, they have quite a substantial collection and I assume there must be a few of Carfin in there somewhere.
I have a few of the Grotto and Carfin Hall but nothing of the village itself.

Ive got some photos of photocopies (if that makes sense) of Carfin cross area. I would estimate they are from around the early 1960's
I'll send them to you if you still need them

Yes please Pete. My neighbour gave me some photos of the same area that someone got when a pub was shutting down.

Hi,

Would anyone still have some old photos of Carfin?

My recently late mother-in-law was born in a cottage tucked away up a small path between the little old church on the corner of Motherwell Rd and Chapelknowe Rd, (now sadly gone / wiped away having been burned out), and the Band of Hope Church hall behind.

My wife remembers visiting the cottage at some points in the early 1960's, where her gran still lived.

Any photos of the the cottage from the time leading up to when it too was demolished and that area would be great.
My Mother in law was born there in 1928.
I have no idea how long the cottage had been there before that.

Thanks in advance.
