I am looking for any information regarding Benjamin Barnes supposedly born in 1810 in Chipping ongar fathers name Benjamin
I have his marriage and all subsequent info but cannot find a birth
Help.................please.................

i,ve been having another look for ben , i take it you have done the rounds of parish registers in the library and done the variants surname search what about other towns -villages such as kelvedon hatch  north weald ingatestone .

there is this baptism on familysearch
Benjamin Barm
baptised 20 Jun 1819
Brentwood Essex
parents Benjamin & Mary

could be a mistranscription of barnes - and it is only the baptism date - not all were baptised as babies
Brentwood & Chipping Ongar are very close

The actual surname in the PRs is Bacon not Barm, additionally there is a later note made saying that the child was actually baptised William and not Benjamin.

Thanks both of you for looking  I really appreciate it I suppose as they moved to colchester he could have been baptised there..or not at all if they moved....

Maybe Benjamin Barnes has been badly mistranscribed too???

I did have a quick look in Chipping Ongar and there are a couple of Barnes families in there but no son or father called Benjamin.
