Marriage Lookup Please: William Sheldon & Sarah Wardropper M: 1827

Hi,

I am trying to trace the parents of a William Sheldon and a Sarah Wardropper. According to the IGI they were married on 04-08-1827 in Medomsley, Durham.

I'm hoping the Parish records may have this information.

Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately pre-civll registration (1837) marriage documents very rarely contained the names of the parents

I see from the 1851 census that Sarah's place of birth is given as Newcastle upon Tyne, in approx 1806 (HO 107/2391/323/3)

In which case this baptism might be relevant - Sarah Wardropper at All Saints Newcastle in 1805. Parents William and Sarah

Just been looking at that. It seems the most likely. William Wardropper & Sarah Milburn M:1802.

If this is the case William's Parents look to Robert Wardropper & Isobella (IGI: P00058-1).

Does anyone know of a way to be certain of the original William & Sarah's parents if the information doesn't exist on the Bishop's transcripts?

Hi, hope you don't mind me butting in but there's a public tree on a well known site that has William as the son of Robert Sheldon and Jane Crow and therefore the brother of Elias Sheldon who was a witness at William & Sarah's marriage, I found a non-conformist baptism on www.bmdregisters.co.uk  for Elias but so far nothing for William with parents Robert & Jane.

I was going to suggest it might be worth following up on Elias.

William gives Fatfield as his place of birth in the 1851 census.

This was in Chester le Street parish, but I don't see any William Sheldon baptisms there.

Sarah Wardropper born 12 Apr 1805, baptised 9 June 1805, 1st daur of William Wardropper, mason of Chester-le-Street by his wife Sarah daur of John Milburn, yeoman of Ryton Durham

An Elias Sheldon and wife Ann were having children baptised in Jarrow in the 1830's

Hi, I've been looking at Robert Sheldon and Jane Crow. There are baptism records for three sons  named John, but only one burial record. I wondered if  John Sheldon bap 27 July 1800 could have been incorrectly transcribed and should be William? A Look up of this baptism could be helpful.
