Early census look up please-South Leicester
« on: Monday 23 May 05 15:09 BST (UK) »
hello,

I've been unable to locate my x2 great grandparents on any census returns.  could some kind person check the 1841 (or earlier census if possible) please for:

James COLTMAN head (baptised 3rd july 1874)
Mary COLTMAN   wife (nee GOODWIN)

They should be in the south Leicester area, but all I currently have on them is the info below:

on their sons baptism in 1813 James COLTMAN is listed as a Farmer of Little Glen
on their sons 1st marriage cert, James COLTMAN is listed as Joiner
on their sons 2nd marriage cert, James COLTMAN is listed as a Cattle Dealer of Glen Parva

Any help would be much appreciated.

regards,

andy coltman

Hi Andy,

Had a quick look through Glen Parva, bits of Aylestone, Lubbesthorpe and Bitteswell. Some of it is very faint so don't assume they're not in there but the nearest I could find was the following:

Thomas Coltman, 75, Ind, not born in county
Mary Coltman, 43, born in county
Elizabeth Coltman, 40, born in county

Tom
Lord (Leicester), McCormack (Co Mayo, Nottingham), Swann (Leicester), Clark(e) (Leicester)
